A single connection means that a location is connected via a single Internet line, typically through a single access provider. This can be a high-performance fiber-optic connection, which is usually entirely sufficient under normal operating conditions. However, it is no substitute for a planned on-site connectivity solution: data volume, reception, prioritization, and the integration of voice services are often limited in such cases.<\/p>\n

A single connection remains acceptable even if critical services continue to run locally and, in the event of an outage, employees can easily switch to using cell phones or working from another location. It is important to make this decision deliberately and not simply assume that fiber-optic connections never fail.<\/p>\n

When Redundant Internet Connections Are Worth It<\/h2>\n

As soon as a location relies on cloud services, VoIP telephony, remote access, or cross-location systems on a daily basis, having a second point of access quickly becomes a sensible option. This doesn\u2019t just apply to large companies. Even an SME with ten employees can incur significant costs during an outage if everyone is affected at the same time.<\/p>\n
